Housing That Works for Everyone
Heidi knows firsthand what it’s like to be unhoused, and she has turned that experience into advocacy. From serving on housing solution forums to supporting construction reforms, she works to ensure stable, attainable housing for teachers, seniors, and families. Heidi believes zoning alone will not solve the crisis and supports local partnerships, not preemption, so communities can thrive with safe and affordable housing.

Investing In Kids &
Classrooms
As a seasoned teacher, tutor, and coach with children in Colorado schools, and across the nation, Heidi has always rolled up her sleeves for students. She has earned her Adams 12 leadership academy stripes and will prioritize public education funding, support teachers, and expand mental health access. She also champions trade schools, apprenticeships, and industry-based certificates, preparing young people for success across academic and workforce paths.

Clean Air, Safe Water
Heidi first stepped into public service during the fight for oil and gas reforms that gave communities more control. She changed state law, with the League of Oil and Gas Impacted Coloradans at the Capitol, even before she ran for office. As a trained Climate Reality Ambassador, she has fought to ensure every Coloradan can breathe clean air and drink safe water. Heidi believes environmental protections safeguard both public health and Colorado’s natural beauty, securing a healthier future for our children and grandchildren.

Public Safety
When Heidi’s young daughter narrowly escaped an attempted abduction, she saw firsthand the importance of first responders and victim advocates. She supports safe streets and neighborhoods with strong emergency response, co-responder programs, and union protections for first responders. Heidi prioritizes mental health, anti-bias, and de-escalation training to ensure public safety that is accountable, community-based, and rooted in common sense.

Inclusive Healthcare
Having cared for her mother’s mental health struggles and enrolled refugees in lifesaving programs, Heidi knows the challenges families face. She believes healthcare is a human necessity and must be affordable, accessible, and inclusive. Heidi supports fiercely protecting Medicaid funding, SNAP benefits, and, strengthening mental health resources in schools and workplaces, and building a compassionate system where no one is left behind.

Infrastructure and Transportation
District HD33 has waited far too long for reliable and safe transportation. As Broomfield’s representative to DRCOG, Heidi has advocated for rail, rapid bus transit, and bikeable, walkable communities. She believes transportation investments should reduce climate impacts, improve accessibility, and support economic development. Strong infrastructure creates safer neighborhoods, expands opportunity, and builds a stronger Colorado for everyone.

Trustworthy Leadership For The Economy & Workers
When the pandemic hit, Heidi’s motto was “Pivot, not panic.” She used her biology degree to help businesses reopen safely through the 5-star program, while protecting public health, earning the trust of front-line workers, union members, and local business leaders. Heidi has a proven record of working across divides to solve problems, leading with transparency, working to understand the issues, and ensuring resilience. She will continue to simplify, communicate, and build trust at the State Capitol to keep the economy thriving and working families safe and fair pay for fair work.

Budget and Fiscal Responsibility
Colorado faces difficult budget challenges, including federal shortfalls that threaten healthcare access and education funding. Heidi has worked with federal and state leaders to prepare for these impacts and will fight to protect essential services. She supports short-term solutions to prevent harmful cuts and long-term strategies to grow revenue, close loopholes, and create an economy that works for everyone.

Aging Advocacy
Heidi understands the challenges facing older Coloradans, our fastest growing population, having been both a caretaker and a policymaker. She has supported programs that reduce isolation, expand healthcare access, and strengthen caregiver resources so aging parents can age in place. At the state level, Heidi supports improved adult protective services, in-home safety, and stronger safeguards in long-term care facilities. She will continue to fight for dignity, safety, and independence for aging residents.

Firearm Safety
As a local leader in passing gun safety ordinances, and a gun owner for gun safety, Heidi knows the importance of responsible laws. She supported mandatory safety classes and was proud to see her local efforts expand statewide. With the endorsement of local Moms Gun Sense advocates, Heidi will keep working to protect children, strengthen commonsense reforms, and ensure safe communities and schools free from gun violence.

Immigrants,
Anti-Racism
and Equity
Heidi has led the efforts locally on protecting immigrant rights and believes immigrants have a right to due process as immigration is a civil issue, not a criminal one. Heidi also understands that racism has no place in our communities, schools, or institutions. She has worked with advocates to expand anti-bias training, strengthen equity initiatives, and address systemic disparities. Heidi will continue to fight discrimination in housing, healthcare, immigration, and education, ensuring all Coloradans, no matter their race, have the chance to succeed and thrive in a fair and just society.

LGBTQ+ Equality and Inclusion
As a champion for equality, as Heidi has close family members who rely on on strong safety protections, Heidi is committed to protecting LGBTQ+ rights. She supports inclusive policies in schools, workplaces, and healthcare, and stands against efforts to roll back hard-won protections. Heidi believes not only that love is love, but that every vulnerable person in this population deserves safety and advocacy. LGBTQ+ Coloradans must be free to live openly and safely without fear of discrimination or violence.
